The "Markaz Pazhooheshi Fanavarihaye Bghbani rooyesh Sabze Farda (PISTAT)" was founded in 2020 in Iran with official approval from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. Since its establishment, PISTAT has been dedicated to advancing horticultural knowledge through innovative, applied research aimed at increasing productivity and sustainability in orchards. PISTAT’s work covers key areas of horticulture, including pest and disease management, irrigation and water use, soil improvement, plant nutrition, and orchard development. Each year, the center carries out 25 to 30 applied research projects on partner farms, with a strong focus on pistachio and olive orchard management. These projects are led by experienced researchers and evaluated over multiple years using robust statistical analysis to ensure reliable, practical results. Once findings are confirmed, PISTAT actively shares them with growers, specialists, and industry professionals. In addition to publishing a quarterly journal and hosting webinars and training workshops, the center organizes an annual Pistachio Event to present selected research outcomes alongside leading international studies. Following the success of the first event in 2024, the Second Pistachio Event will be held on January 4, focusing on today’s most important challenges and opportunities in pistachio orchard management. The event will feature scientific contributions from distinguished Iranian and international researchers, including Louise Ferguson and Patrick Brown.
